Purcell Public Schools is excited to share the latest developments on our voter-approved bond projects! As construction continues across the district, we are making significant strides in building safer, stronger, and more modern facilities for our "Dragon" family.
We are proud to share a visual update of the work happening at our sites, thanks to the hard work of our construction teams and the continued support of our community.
Junior High: FEMA Gym
Construction on the new Junior High FEMA Gym is moving along beautifully. This facility will not only provide a top-tier space for our student-athletes and physical education programs but will also serve as a high-capacity storm shelter for our students, staff, and the community during severe weather.
Current Status: Structural work is in full swing, and you can now see the impressive scale of the building as the walls and frame take shape.

Elementary School: Gym Renovation & Storm Shelter
The transformation at the Elementary campus is well underway. This project includes a comprehensive renovation of the existing gym and the addition of a secure storm shelter that will double as four brand-new classrooms.
Current Status: Preparation and interior work are progressing steadily. We are eager to see these dual-purpose spaces come to life to provide both safety and much-needed instructional room for our youngest learners.

High School: New VO-AG Building
The future of our Agricultural Education program is looking bright! Work on the new VO-AG Building (Ag Barn) is advancing, which will provide hands-on learning opportunities and dedicated space for animal projects.
Current Status: Site work and structural foundations are the current focus, paving the way for a state-of-the-art facility that matches the excellence of our Ag program.
Junior High: New Parking Lot & Band Practice Pad
To improve safety and traffic flow, the new parking lot north of the Junior High is taking shape. This area is designed to provide a dedicated bus loop and a much-needed practice pad for our award-winning band.
Current Status: Paving and site leveling are ongoing, and we look forward to the improved accessibility this will bring to our campus.
Project Update: Intermediate Saferoom
While we are seeing great progress across most of our sites, the Intermediate Saferoom project is currently at a temporary standstill.
The project is currently awaiting the relocation of a main gas line. We are working closely with Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) as they process the move. Once the utility line has been successfully relocated, construction will resume immediately. We appreciate your patience as we navigate these necessary safety and utility requirements to ensure the project is completed correctly.
"We are grateful for the community’s investment in our students' safety and education. Seeing these renderings become reality is a testament to the 'Dragon Strong' spirit of Purcell." — Dr. Sheli McAdoo, Superintendent
