Kindness Week - Random Acts of Kindness for Thursday.
Mrs. Franco has placed small buckets outside her office for teachers to notice kindness demonstrated by students. Each day during morning announcements Mrs. Stone draws names from each grade's bucket and shares the acts of kindness over the intercom. Those students come to the office so we can personally thank them for showing kindness and give them a small treat. Here are the students from today's drawing. #DragonCARES 🐲❤️

Monday we gave out bookmarks. Today we gave out OU pencils.
It has been such a good feeling each day sharing what's seen by our students! We may continue this after kindness week each Friday.

Mrs. Tyler has challenged the 2nd grade class to get 300 reading counts points in February. They are almost there!

Valentine's Day, 50's dress up & party day will be will be celebrated this Friday at Purcell Elementary!
Our Valentine's theme is centered on kindness and giving of our hearts to others. We will be doing different activities to celebrate Kindness Week and Showing Acts of Kindness to others, February 13th-17th.
We will be ending our Kindness Week with 50's dress up and celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday, February 17th. 50s Day dress-up doesn't have to be an expensive outfit. This can be a very simple dress such as rolled-up student pant legs and shirt cuffs. A ribbon in their hair for girls or slick it back for boys with jeans and a white t-shirt is perfect! We are all looking forward to it! Please be watching for party sign-up information from your teachers. I know they are very appreciative of all that you do in supporting our students and classroom activities! Valentines will be exchanged among classmates on Friday at the party.
Just as a reminder, it's hard for students to carry all of the things home on this day. With this in mind, Valentine deliveries are allowed on Friday, February 17th from 1-3pm. Thank you for helping us with this. Be looking for more information from your child's teacher on Bloomz. Parents are welcome to attend the party and feel free to dress up with us and join the fun! 🚘
KINDNESS WEEK is this week! February 13-17th
This is a week where we really focus on acts of kindness throughout the week and learning what it means to be kind. We always want to teach and encourage our students to show kindness to one another but this is a special week of the school year dedicated to teaching and talking about kindness and how we can show acts of kindness to others. PES students be given a Kindness Bingo in class that they will use to help them throughout the week with their acts of kindness. 🐲❤️#DragonCARES #KindnessMATTERS❤️

Thank you to our K & 1st graders for creating heart Butterflies & Dragons at Art for Mrs. Franco, Mrs. Nichols & Mrs. Stone! The sweet surprise on our doors this morning made it a wonderful start to our day! We love our Lil' Dragons! ❤️🥰🐲
We are excited to announce that our school is participating in the Stars of Honor Student Recognition Program this February to honor some of our Little Dragons. The Stars of Honor program is partnering with OU Athletics to provide complimentary tickets to University of Oklahoma basketball games for K-5 students who are selected for the Stars of Honor award by their elementary school.
One students from each class, grades K-2nd, were selected. These students were selected based on their hard work and dedication in the classroom as well as their commitment to showing excellent DRAGON CARES each day.
The game that was selected for our school is the OU Women's Basketball game on February 25th, at 1:00pm.
The students that were selected will receive a certificate to commemorate their accomplishment, fun photo opportunities before the game, and an ovation from the crowd during a timeout. These elements not only make it a special experience for the kids, but also reward them for working hard in the classroom and showing great character.
We are so proud of the accomplishments of our Lil’ Dragons and are honored to be able to recognize them!

National Counseling Week is February 6th-10th and we will be celebrating our counselors as they continue to show us How to Dream Big! We are so grateful for all that they teach our students!
