Purcell Public School's Indian Parent Committee (IPC) will meet on Monday, September 28, at 11:45 AM in the Administration Building, 919 1/2 N. 9th. The meeting will cover selection of officers, review of bylaws and discussion of reading progress related to Title VI program services. The meeting will be in room 110 and is open to the public.

Purcell Intermediate Safe Room Project
Work is taking shape inside the new Purcell Intermediate Safe Room project!
Key progress highlights include:
Interior Framing: Heavy-gauge metal stud framing is extensively installed throughout the interior, defining room layouts, hallway corridors, and doorway openings.
Trade Rough-Ins: Electrical wiring runs, electrical backer boxes, and overhead ductwork components are being integrated within the framed walls.
Building Envelope & Entrances: Exterior red brick masonry surrounds the main entryways, where structural door frames and high-security storm door casings have been set.
Material Delivery & Prep: Insulation bundles and interior wall materials are on-site in preparation for upcoming wall installation.
Current Phase: Metal stud framing completion, trade rough-in inspections, and staging for insulation and drywall installation.
Next Steps: Hanging interior drywall, overhead MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing) installations, and exterior door fittings.

Purcell Junior High School FEMA Gymnasium
We are thrilled to share that construction on the new Purcell Junior High School FEMA Gymnasium is nearly complete!
Major milestone highlights include:
Exterior Structure: Brickwork and entrance lettering are complete, featuring dual storm-rated entry doors.
Interior Court & Graphics: Hardwood flooring, court line markings, red bleachers, and custom Purcell Dragons logos—on the wall feature and mid-court—are installed.
Fixtures & Utilities: Overhead lighting, red HVAC ductwork, wall-mounted display electronics, and adjustable basketball hoops are mounted.
Contractors are completing final touch-ups, safety inspections, and site cleanup.
Grand opening announcement and ribbon-cutting details coming soon!

We are incredibly proud of our Purcell Technology Student Association (TSA) students who represented Purcell Public Schools at the TSA National Conference in Washington, D.C. this summer!
These students worked hard, challenged themselves, and demonstrated creativity, innovation, and technical skills on a national stage. Several of our students earned top placements in their competitions.
What an incredible experience and a tremendous achievement for our students and their advisors, Mrs. Breidinger and Mr. Wollenberg.

The Purcell Gifted Child Program Committee will meet on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026 at 12:45 PM in the High School Library, 202 N. 🗳️ Reminder: Election Day is Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 25!
Purcell Public Schools encourages all eligible parents, staff, and community patrons to exercise their right to vote in tomorrow’s Runoff Primary Election. Polls will be open statewide from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Depending on your voter registration and location, your ballot may include local and state primary runoff races, as well as state ballot initiatives.
On the Ballot: State Question 844
One item on tomorrow's ballot is State Question 844, a proposed amendment to Article 10, Section 6B of the Oklahoma Constitution regarding property tax exemptions and reimbursement structures for local public entities.
Current Law: The Oklahoma Constitution currently requires full reimbursement to common schools, Career Tech districts, counties, cities, health departments, emergency services, and libraries for property tax revenue lost due to state-mandated 5-year manufacturing ad valorem exemptions.
Proposed Amendment (SQ 844): Removing the mandatory constitutional reimbursement requirement and granting authority to the Oklahoma Legislature to establish the methodologies, levels, and conditions of future reimbursements.
Voting Options:
A YES vote supports replacing the constitutional full-reimbursement requirement with a statutory framework determined by the Legislature.
A NO vote opposes the amendment, keeping the current constitutional requirement for full state reimbursement intact.
The Republican State School Superintendent runoff is also on the ballot. Please take an opportunity to review the positions of both candidates to make an informed decision.
