March PES Staff Spotlight! Please join us in honoring these wonderful ladies; Mrs. Tyler and Mrs. McAnally! They are such a blessing to many students, staff, and families! Mrs. Tyler has been serving students in education for the past 19 years. She loves teaching students and loves helping them find their favorite books in the Library! Her favorite memory as a student was her 4th-grade teacher. One thing she can't live without is her family. She enjoys spending time with her family and loves going to the beach! Mrs. McAnally has been serving students for the past 2 years. She loves helping students be successful each day! Her favorite memory as a student was helping her teachers and she also loved playing Junior High Sports! She loves her sweet kiddos, Jace and Makiah and she loves being on the worship team at church. We are blessed to have them both at PES and appreciate all they do to make students shine!

Purcell Elementary School would like to thank Sooner Flight Academy at the University of Oklahoma for visiting our first and second grade students and telling them all about flight, airplanes, and Bernoulli’s Principle. The kids were also very excited to hear about the flight camps held at Sooner Flight Academy. Missoula Children's Theater was a hit! They did a wonderful job in Friday's performance for 2nd & 3rd grade students as well as Saturday's performance to family and the community! We would like to give a special thanks to Missoula directors, Samantha Sheldon and Grace Magstadt for the amazing work they have done this week with our students! A huge thank you to our generous sponsors—Pruitt Investments, McClain Bank, the Purcell Public School Foundation, the Oklahoma Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Your support ensures that opportunities like this continue to inspire young minds. And, of course, a special thank you to our wonderful pianist, Melina Jones, for sharing her talent and bringing this production to life. Today our Missoula cast will perform Alice in Wonderland for our 2nd and 3rd grade students. Parents of cast members can attend. The performance of Alice in Wonderland on Saturday at 3 will be open to the public and community.

We would like to give a HUGE shout out to Pruitt Investments for their contribution in helping us house our Missoula Children's Theatre directors for the week in one of their new Airbnb cabins here in Purcell. We are so thankful for their continued support of Purcell Schools and thankful for their help with making this project a success. So far, kindergarten has 41 miles, first grade ran 100 miles, and 2nd grade ran 187 miles. That's 329 miles all together!!! That's amazing!!! Way to go Dragons!!

This is what I was going to post. Congratulations to Mrs. Sharie Wilhoit on her outstanding achievement as Purcell Elementary’s Site Teacher of the Year! With 18 years of dedicated service, Sharie’s passion for teaching shines through every day. As a second-grade teacher, she approaches each lesson with genuine joy and an unwavering commitment to her students’ growth, treating them like cherished family members. Her warm, nurturing spirit and creative teaching methods have inspired countless young minds, ensuring that learning is both fun and meaningful. Beyond her classroom, Sharie’s life is enriched by her loving family. Married to Kerry Wilhoit and together they have raised two wonderful children, Klaire and Karter. Our second graders have read 1,227,370 words!! That's a great accomplishment! The second grade top readers from each class are Valerya Rodriguez, Kodi Doyal, Remington Pope, Thomas Montgomery, Kamdyn Craig, and Conor Kilman. Wonderful job 2nd graders!! We got a pic of our other 1st grade top reader Brooks Carr!

Today is the day! Missoula auditions for Alice in Wonderland are today at 3:30! Students wishing to audition must stay for the full 2 hour audition and must be available throughout the week for rehearsals and performances on Friday and Saturday. All students K-12 are welcome to audition. Auditions and rehearsals will all be held at the Old Junior High located at 201 Lester Lane. Audition permission slips will be available at audition sign ins. We look forward to seeing you all there!

First Grade completed their reading challenge by reading 1,353 books from March 3 to March 13! We are so very proud of all of First Grade, we will be celebrating Friday! Our top readers from each class was Addison Walker, Campbell Cunningham, Drew Gulledge, Kenley Creswell, and not pictured Brooks Carr. Way to go First Grade!

Don't forget Missoula Children's Theatre residency week is THIS week, March 24th-29th. Auditions will be held Monday, March 24th from 3:30-5:30pm at the Old Junior High. Auditions are open to all students Kindergarten-12th grade. Parents, please make prior arrangements to get your student to auditions. We are SO excited for this week and look forward to seeing all our Dragons who come to auditions. Permission slips will be available at auditions if needed. Purcell Public School is contracted with Keystone for our food service. Keystone is honoring National School Breakfast Week. They conducted a coloring contest. The winner is First Grader, Nicole Ramos Jaquez! Nice job!

There has been a LOT of running going on at Purcell Elementary School. The mile club just keeps growing and growing. We now also have students in the 5 mile club! The mile clubs are an optional activity that students can participate in during PE in which they run laps around the gym to reach a mile. These laps are in addition to the activities they do with their class. Way to go to these Dragons for making it into the Mile Club at PE!
