We had such a fun day celebrating 50s Valentine's Day! Thank you Dragon Families for helping us have a fun day! We hope you have a fun weekend full of love and kindness with your family!🥰💕🐲

We are wrapping up Kindness Week today with our Valentine parties! Our Little Dragons have done a great job at spreading kindness this week. Today's kindness challenge is about spreading kindness to our families and our homes by helping out around the house and cleaning something without being asked. Just because Kindness Week is ending doesn't mean our kind acts should. Please continue to encourage our students to show kindness always.
Today's kindness drawing winners were Adalynn Frizell, K.K., Coleman Sheehy, Crue Tompkins, Bison Ellis, Cash Compton, Cal Culwell, Capri Ingram, Aurora Velazquez, Kobi Woody, Jahdiel Munoz, Esperanza Don, Ashley Luna, Brooks Carr, and Walker Watson. These students helped their classmates, helped their teachers, and gave out compliments to others to spread kindness around! We are so proud of you for being kind. #DragonCARES

Our Valentine's theme is centered on kindness and giving of our hearts to others. Students have been doing different activities to celebrate Kindness Week and Showing Acts of Kindness to Others, February 10th-14th. We will be ending our Kindness Week with 50's dress up and celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday, February 14th. 50's Day dress-up doesn't have to be an expensive outfit. This can be a very simple dress such as rolled-up student pant legs and shirt cuffs. A ribbon in their hair for girls or slick it back for boys with jeans and a white t-shirt is perfect! We are all looking forward to it!
Feel free to join the fun and dress in your 50s attire with us!
We look forward to parents or guardians coming to celebrate with their child and their classmates on Friday, February 14th. 🥰🐲

Our Little Dragons are still busy spreading kindness this week!
While we are focusing on and putting a big emphasis on kindness this week, we are also teaching students the importance of always being kind and the impact it can have on others. Kindness starts with you!
Since we were out yesterday, we have two kindness challenges today! The first challenge from yesterday is Love the Earth: pick up trash and be responsible with your trash to help your school and community stay beautiful! Our second kindness challenge for today is about being thankful and showing gratitude by thanking someone like a teacher, friend or classmate with kind words, a note or drawing to let them know you appreciate them. We encourage you all to join us in our kindness challenges!
Our kindness drawing winners for today were Josie Wren, Gwendolyn Wyatt, Blakely Bell, Stoney Duke, Kobi Woody, Zane Shahan, Newt Folsom, Hadley Groff, and Markee Jacks. Also pictured from Tuesday's drawing is Tillie Reynolds.
We are so proud of you for being kind! #DragonCARES

Sorry for the late notice on menu change. Today we had hotdogs. Friday we will have chicken nuggets. ♥️🐲
This week we are doing daily kindness challenges and kindness drawings for Kindness Week to encourage our Little Dragons and help teach them the importance of being kind. Our kindness challenge for Monday was to be helpful by helping someone in class or doing a good deed for someone. Tuesday's kindness challenge was all about self-care and showing yourself kindness by writing nice words about yourself and telling yourself all the things you love about you. It's important to not only be kind to others, but to be kind to ourselves as well.
Our kindness drawing winners from Tuesday were Tillie Reynolds (not pictured), Owen Sharp, Kenley Creswell, and Bowen Nicklas. These students showed kindness by being nice and helpful to their classmates and teachers. Way to spread kindness! #DragonCARES

Dress warm today Little Dragons! Due to ice and extreme temps at the top, please drop off only in front this am. Thank you! ❄️❤️🐲

We appreciate all you do to make our school a great place! 🥤❤️🐲#DragonCARES #spreadkindnesslikeconfetti #purcellPTO

This week is Kindness week! We are celebrating kindness week across the district. While showing kindness is always important, students are challenged to do as many kind acts as they can this week. Students have a Kindness Bingo sheet they are working on at school along with a daily kindness challenge in morning announcements. Ask your student each day what kind acts they have done or what they can do to show kindness.

We have the first members of our Mile Club.
First grade: Owen Fischer
Second grade: Brynlie Moore, Thomas Montgomery, and Reef Wilkins.
These students even skipped part of their game time in PE to keep running laps so they could reach 1 mile! 🏃♀️🏃♂️Awesome job!! 👏🏆

Join us in helping our PreK support Purcell's Animal Shelter! Donations accepted until February 24th. 🐲🩷🐩🐶🦴🐈❤️

Did you know that a child's heart is roughly the size of their fist, while an adult's heart is about the size of two hands clasped together? This difference in size reflects the growth and development that occurs as we age. Despite their smaller size, children's hearts pump just as vigorously, supporting their energetic activities and overall health. Understanding these differences can help us appreciate the remarkable changes our bodies undergo throughout life!

February is recognized as Heart Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about heart health and the importance of cardiovascular wellness. This month encourages individuals to adopt healthy lifestyle choices, such as eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and managing stress, to protect their hearts. It’s also an opportunity to learn about risk factors for heart disease and to promote heart-healthy habits within our communities. Let’s take this time to prioritize our heart health and support those affected by heart conditions! 🫀♥️

Kayla Lopez earned a PE Kindness Coin this week by sharing all of her bean bags (aka points) with another student who lost their bean bags.
Great job Kayla!! 🐉❤️

Purcell high school Spanish Club officers delivered winter gear for our Little Dragons here at the Elementary school before the next round of cold weather hits. These jackets, beanies and gloves will help ensure our Little Dragons stay nice and warm! Thank you so much to Mayra Munoz, Irma Calixto and PHS Spanish Club for helping support our Little Dragons.
