Kindergarten Graduation Day 2024! We can't wait to see our Parents & Grandparents at 10am at the Administration Building! Parents, if you would like to check your graduate out after the ceremony, please sign them out at the front or check out with your child's teacher. Each teacher has a clip board setting out as you walk in to be seated. You can sign here for check out or do so after the ceremony. We have practiced and we are ready! After Graduation, you will have an opportunity to take pictures with your child. Please enjoy this time. If you would like to use a graduation cap, they will be at the desk by the door and available after the ceremony. Please return graduation caps & gowns before leaving. Students will be walking back over to class soon after the ceremony. Remember, if you choose to check your child out, please sign out with your child's teacher. You will be provided with a professional photo of your child from PES.🐲❤️Kindergarten Teachers will hand these out after the ceremony. Today is finally here! It’s Kindergarten Graduation Day! A special thank you to our PTO for supporting this event and buying graduation gowns for us to use for years to come! Thank you PHS Art Students for our Graduation Dragon Art! Thank you Purcell School's Maintenance Crew and Technology Crew for setup and assistance. 🐲❤️ Thank you Mrs. Scott for teaching us our songs for this special celebration! PES March Staff and Teacher of the Month: Special Education Assistant Amber McAnally and 2nd Grade Teacher Kendra Dobbins Read what their colleagues had to say about them: Amber McAnally Never once has she quit smiling, even when injured. She is happy to be here, happy to help, kind to the kids, and her colleagues. We are lucky to have her! Have you ever seen Amber without a smile on her face? No you haven’t. That’s why she deserves recognition! Her positive attitude is contagious. So blessed to have her on our team! Kendra Dobbins Kendra goes above and beyond in her classroom and as a teammate. She is always willing to help when needed and does it with a smile on her face. She makes learning in her classroom a fun experience. She takes the time to get to know each and every student, creating an atmosphere of love and value. I'm so thankful to have Mrs. Dobbins on the 2nd grade team and as my child's teacher. She's a blessing to us all here at PES. She is a wonderful teammate. She is someone you can rely on and trust. She loves her students and wants them all to succeed. She is willing to lend a helping hand. I am so thankful for her. Kendra is always wearing a smile! She's willing to help in any way she can and you can just tell she has such a heart and a passion for her students, their learning, and best interests! On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will come across the United States, allowing our students to witness a rare solar event. With such a monumental event occurring during the school day, Purcell Public Schools will be conducting a viewing of the event for students, faculty, and staff members who wish to participate in grades 2nd through 12th grade. Safety is our top priority, and we would like you and your child to be aware of the precautionary steps we are putting in place for the event. Homemade or ordinary sunglasses are not sufficient ways to view an eclipse, as the reflectivity and polarization are not high enough for viewing the eclipse in a safe manner. To ensure that each participant is safe, Purcell Public Schools will be supplying those who wish to participate with a pair of glasses specifically designed for eclipse viewing. These glasses conform to the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2, which are filters specifically designed for direct observation of the sun. We will be viewing a partial solar eclipse (at its greatest point will look like a fingernail/crescent shape.) It will be at maximum coverage at 1:44 p.m. That means glasses must be worn at all times during the viewing. Students should never look at the sun without special eye protection, and removing glasses, even temporarily, may have serious effects on your eyes. Outdoor activities will be restricted from 12:00 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. on the day of the eclipse. Precautions will be taken to cover windows where necessary to prevent accidental viewing of the eclipse. Because of these safety concerns, a parent or guardian signature is required for students to participate in the event using the provided eclipse glasses. Students who do not complete this form and return to the school by April 4, 2024, will not be able to participate. You can buy gift cards for students to use at efairs.literati.com you will have to search for our school Purcell Elementary and scroll to find gift cards. Cash and cards are also accepted. Tax does have to be added to purchases. See you at the book fair!
