Thank you parents and grandparents for bringing students out tonight for our Fall into Learning Night at PES! It was a fun time playing Literacy games together and having some yummy treats. Don't forget that our food drive continues through tomorrow, Wednesday, November 13th! All donations help with holiday food baskets for families in our community. The classes are having a competition to see which class can bring in the most items! Parents, you may bring food items to our Fall Into Learning night tonight and drop them off at the donation table. Just stop by and see Mrs. Stone first so she can add your item count to your teacher's tally. Also, parents please stop by our Lost & Found tonight while at Fall Into Learning night and claim any lost items!

In honor of Veteran’s Day our elementary students have been learning about the branches of the military in PE. After learning about each branch, they would complete stations … Army: army crawling under the ropes Navy: safety sailing their teammates across the ocean Coast Guard: crossing the river to rescue their teammates Air Force: flying helicopters and jets Marines: sprinting through tires and parachuting across the gym Space Force: creating satellites ❤️🤍💙They want to thank all of our Veterans for their service!! 🇺🇸

Please join me in CONGRATULATING and welcoming Mrs. D'Lana Albright as the Director of Head Start located here at Purcell Elementary School. She began working for Delta Head Start across town and moved when Head Start & PreK moved to the Elementary School. She has been serving in classrooms for the past 10 1/2 years. We are super excited for her to begin this new position and are blessed for all that she does for students, teachers and families each day! Congratulations, D'Lana! ❤️🐲❤️

Please join me in giving well wishes to an amazing woman, Mrs. Ciara Register! She has worked hard, finished her degree and continued to lead Head Start at the Elementary. We have loved having her here and all that she's done for students, teachers and families. She will be missed! District Wide Food Drive starts TODAY, November 7th and continues through Wednesday, November 13th. The donated items will go to Lil' Dragon Food Pantry and Operation Christmas for holiday food baskets for families in our community! All non-perishable items are accepted but there is a list of items in high need below. Students may bring items to school with them or they can be dropped off in the front office. Students have such pride when they get to participate and bring cans to school for this event. Thank you for helping us help our community! #DragonCARES

Last week during Red Ribbon Week we celebrated making healthy choices for our bodies! PES September Teacher & Staff of the Month: 1st Grade Teacher Mrs. Cristian Haynes & Reading Assistant Mrs. Destiny James Read what their colleagues had to say about them: Cristian: -She goes above and beyond to help others feel supported and part of the team. She is an excellent asset to PES! -She is always willing to help and is a great team player! First grade is lucky to have her! -She is so kind and helpful. She really is a Dragon through and through! Destiny: -Destiny is an absolute rockstar! She is always helping out and offering her time and assistance wherever needed! We need more Destinys in the world! -Her work ethic is unmatched. She goes above and beyond on the reading team, as well as to help classroom teachers. So many students have formed a strong bond with her because she is so helpful and nice! -Destiny always has an awesome attitude! We are blessed to have her in our class and I can tell she loves what she does and loves the kids! She already does an amazing job, but is going to make and even better teacher when she finishes school! PES get ready!! Red Ribbon Week is THIS coming week, Oct 28th-Nov 1st and the theme is - Life is a Movie, Film Drug-Free. ❤️🐲 Please remember that costumes need to be kept at a minimum to ensure that students can remove them easily for bathroom trips, recess, and PE. Sending a change of clothes in their backpack is a good idea because students often tire of wearing their costume all day. Thank you for helping us keep costumes happy and friendly selections without blood, gore, or fright. Thank you for helping us celebrate Drug-Free Week in a sweet, non-scary, fun, way!

Pre-K enjoyed a visit from Sparky and the Purcell Fire Department yesterday. As a part of Fire Prevention week, our local fire department came and educated us on fire safety. The students got to see the rescue gear, hold equipment, and explore the firetruck. Thank you so much for the experience!
