What a finish to the National Convention! Days 3 & 4 were an absolute whirlwind for our Purcell FFA members! 🤩
Day 3 and Day 4 in Indy
Thursday we started the morning at the Opening Session of Convention, watched the speaking finals and then headed to our tour at Umbarger Feed Mill.
Friday it was back at convention for finals, career/college fair, and the expo hall. We even grad a chance to meet up with Hudson for a few minutes. We ended the day traveling to St. Louis to the Gateway Arch.

Our PHS Transitions students had an amazing time exploring the professional world with two awesome tours!
First stop: First United Bank! 💰 Students loved learning about banking, getting a special $2 bill, and especially sending the tube in the drive-thru! (Shoutout to Tess & Hilari for the awesome experience! Thank you to Scott Nation, too!)
Next up: A behind-the-scenes look at the OKC Thunder! 🤩 We learned about Thunder Vision including how the "Kiss Cam" works, social media management (21 Thunder accounts!), corporate communications, and even got to shoot hoops on the court. We also learned a real-world lesson on prepaid debit cards and paying for parking!

Our amazing art students, led by teacher Jon Corea, just wrapped up a super fun Pop Art unit that merged art history with adorable character design! 🤩
Students dove into the iconic Disney art style—think bold colors, clean lines, and those unmistakable exaggerated features. Their mission? To transform real-life animals into lovable, cartoon characters! 🐾
And here's the best part: As part of our climate and culture effort to make staff feel at home, the students used our PHS staff members' pets as their muses! ❤️ Using either digital or traditional techniques, they turned our furry friends into true Disney stars.
We love seeing our staff's beloved pets celebrated through art! A huge shoutout to Mr. Corea and his talented artists for this creative and heartwarming project! 👏 We truly love our furry friends at PHS!

Dear Purcell school families:
We know many families in our community count on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits (SNAP) to provide meals for their families. Unfortunately, due to the federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits will likely be temporarily interrupted, beginning Nov. 1. We understand this disruption may cause uncertainty, worry, and financial burden for some members of our school family.
Please know those impacted are not alone; we’re here to help. We hope the following information will be beneficial to those facing difficulty during this challenging time:
Students will continue to receive breakfast and lunch at school, based on their current eligibility status. If a family’s financial circumstances have changed for any reason, including government furloughs, parents can apply or update their free or reduced-price meal application by visiting our website at www.purcellps.org
Parents can dial 211 on their phones to receive additional information about food banks, pantries, and other community support programs across Oklahoma. Please contact Malia Turner turnerm@purcellps.org, School-Based Family Specialist, at 405-442-0099 for support in locating resources.
Our school team stands ready to support anyone with questions or specific needs. Please contact your child’s school office if we can assist your family.
Oklahomans can learn more about how the government shutdown will affect SNAP benefits by visiting the Department of Human Services' FAQ webpage. Those who need assistance and those who would like to support their fellow Oklahomans can find additional resources on the DHS “Be a Neighbor” webpage.
Although this situation is beyond our control, we can decide how to care for one another. Our school team is committed to keeping you informed and ensuring every student feels safe, secure, and supported.
Thank you for your partnership with Purcell PS.

Attendance is the bedrock of learning, and we are so proud of our students!
A huge thank you to all the parents for your critical support in prioritizing strong attendance. And a special round of applause for our dedicated team: Dean of Student Services Aaron Dillard and Attendance Secretary Candy Tuck for their hard work! 👏
Keep up the great work, everyone! #PHSPride #PerfectAttendance #StudentSuccess #AttendanceMatters
