Four outstanding PHS students are heading to the OASC BASIC Leadership Workshop this week: Adylee Jurado, Alexis Jurado, Grace Van Oort, and Aron Barrera. This workshop aims to develop student leaders through training and hands-on experiences, empowering them to enhance their local student council and school culture.
These delegates will dive deep into leadership skills, dedicating 10-12 hours each day to learning and practicing in student council groups. These groups mirror the dynamics of local councils, fostering collaboration between advisors and members to achieve common goals.
We're confident that Adylee, Aron, Grace, and Alexis will actively participate, improve their leadership abilities, and bring back valuable insights to strengthen our school community. Best of luck to our PHS representatives at the OASC BASIC!

PHS Parent Newsletter summer edition) is now available, and I encourage all of you to take a few moments to read it. My message at the beginning of the newsletter addresses a new state law banning cell phones in all schools from the beginning to the end of the school day. This is an important change that will affect all students, and I will also discuss it with freshman parents at orientation on July 28th.
The newsletter also contains other vital information, including details about upcoming enrollment confirmation, back-to-school resources, the continuation of our summer feeding program, and a summary of recent Dragon News from our busy summer.
We wish you and your families a happy and safe 4th of July holiday!

What a first half of summer it's been for our Purcell FFA! 🎉 Our dedicated students and incredible sponsor Erica Keen have been everywhere – making memories, covering miles, and proudly sporting those blue jackets at camps, conferences, and more. 🎉 Huge shout-out to Purcell High School junior Miguel Flores for being the first PHS student to attend the Youth Leadership Forum this summer! 🤩
Miguel dedicated five days to intensive training, focusing on self-advocacy, leadership, and exploring diverse career paths. He even had the amazing opportunity to meet with state legislators! This experience was well-earned, as Miguel went through a selection process, submitting an application, essay, and two teacher recommendations, followed by an interview.
A big round of applause to Miguel for his hard work and dedication! And a special thank you to PHS Teacher and Transitions leader Jenny Allen-Price for her invaluable support! 🙌

Welcome Hailee Smith!
We're so excited to welcome Hailee Smith as our new Purcell High School Cheer Team Co-Coach! Hailee brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, currently working as a manager and coach at Infinity Dance & Cheer in Purcell. She most recently served as an Assistant Cheer Coach at Southmoore High School, where she also worked as a paraprofessional at Southridge Junior High.
Hailee is a 2022 graduate of Wayne High School, and in addition to her cheer coaching role, she'll be joining us as a paraprofessional at Purcell Junior High.
Hailee will be co-coaching alongside our very own Kassi Buchanan, who currently serves as our High School Registrar and is a former PHS cheerleader herself (Class of 1995)! We're thrilled about the combined experience and energy these two will bring to our cheer program. Welcome to the Dragon family, Hailee!
