Today during rotation time, our students participated in a fun and flavorful fruit and vegetable tasting! They sampled 10 different fruits and veggies and made observations about each one. We talked about the goal of eating 5 fruits and vegetables a day and how a colorful plate means more nutrients for our bodies. Students learned about the many benefits of fruits and veggies—like how fiber helps with digestion, carrots support vision, and antioxidants in fruits boost the immune system and promote healthy skin. It was great to see their excitement as they tried new foods and had conversations about making healthier choices. Next time they’re reaching for a snack, I hope they remember today and go for the fruits and veggies instead of chips or cookies!
Thank you to Healthy Schools Oklahoma and TSET for purchasing all the fruit and veggies for us!!!

We were so excited to host a visit and tour for our second graders this week! They had the chance to explore where their 3rd-grade classrooms will be, learn a bit about their daily schedule, and hear all about the exciting activities they’ll get to enjoy in rotations. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet our future students and help make their transition to third grade feel a little smoother.
A special thank-you to some of our Student Council Members who served as ambassadors during the visit — they did a fantastic job greeting our guests, leading the Q & A time, and making them feel right at home!

Help Us Paint Our Playground!
Painted playscapes—also known as playground markings or painted play spaces—are colorful, interactive games and activities that brighten up outdoor areas. These vibrant designs encourage physical activity, promote social interaction, and support fun learning experiences for students.
Thanks to our partnership with TSET and Healthy Schools Oklahoma (HSOK), we have the exciting opportunity to paint our back pad for free! This project will transform the space into a dynamic and engaging area where students can enjoy new ways to move, play, and learn.
We need volunteers to help make it happen!
Join us on May 19 at 2:00 PM to help paint our playground. No experience necessary—just a willingness to lend a hand!
If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Stephanie Knowles at knowless@purcellps.org or call 405-442-0099.
Let’s work together to make our school even more fun and active for our students!

THANK YOU to our AMAZING community for showing our teachers and staff so much love today! Your kindness means the world to us! Smiles + treats = the perfect kickoff to a week of appreciation!! Thank you!!!

In PE, we have learned the basics of softball/baseball such as catching, throwing, and batting! We've learned how to run bases, catch pop flys, and throw to the base in front of the runner. The best part is the sportsmanship! They have really been encouraging one another and helping each other learn the game! We've scrimmaged and we are ready to play ball! Students may wear their gameday attire (jerseys/uniforms)to school tomorrow! Some classes even picked team colors! We are excited to finish this unit with a fun and friendly game of wiffleball during their rotation time!

If you missed the deadline for ordering a yearbook online, no worries! We ordered extra and they are here!!! If you have questions, please reach out.

Happy Administrative Assistants' Day to two of the best! 🌟
Mrs. Page and Mrs. Jasmine's dedication, warmth, and hard work make our school thrive every single day. We appreciate all the little—and big—things they do! 💗🐉🍎

We were so excited to share this with you all! In Miss Windham's third-grade class, her students recently completed an entire unit on Oklahoma. They created timelines, discussed historical events, viewed online museums and photographs, compared Oklahoma's symbols to those of other states, identified its surrounding states, listened to various read-alouds, and conversed about its origins and landforms. One project in this unit that her students were particularly excited about combined their passion for science and social studies. Each student made a physical map of Oklahoma on cardboard and went through the process of creating salt dough. Afterward, they used the salt dough to demonstrate the state's landforms and painted them to add the finishing touches! Look how awesome they turned out!!

Third graders love experiencing enriched literacy and having fun while doing it! Over the span of three weeks, they were given the opportunity to participate in a reading tournament. One set of classes read books listed on the right side of the brackets, while the other set read books on the left. They switched each week and went through a series of voting forums to determine which book would be the overall winner. Our third graders were pleased to hear that "Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World's Most Famous Bear" by Lindsay Mattick was deemed the most beloved of all the bracket books and the winner of our tournament!
Thank you Mrs. Frankenberg for initiating and hosting this tournament! They truly loved every moment of it!

Recently, Mrs. Jones' 5th-grade science class enjoyed a walking classroom session, listening to a podcast about Earth's rotation and revolution. As they strolled through nature, students discussed what they learned, making science come alive in a fun and active way!

Our students wrapped up the March Madness Step Challenge with a fun reward: the winning class from each grade got to attend a baseball game at the Heart of Oklahoma tournament!
Thanks to the All Sports Dragon Fire Booster Club for sponsoring this awesome experience. Each student received a game ticket, popcorn, soft-serve ice cream, and water.
We had a great time—and so did others around us! A CCS grandparent complimented our students on their great behavior and manners, and several parents thanked us for cheering on the Royals.
A big thank-you to Mrs. Swayze and all the teachers and paraprofessionals who helped make this day happen for our kids!

State testing can be a stressful time for students, making it even more important to start the day with a nutritious breakfast. Eating a balanced meal in the morning fuels the brain, improves focus, and enhances memory, all of which are essential for performing well on tests. A breakfast rich in whole grains, fruits, and proteins helps maintain energy levels and keeps blood sugar stable, allowing students to tackle challenges with confidence. Prioritizing breakfast not only supports academic success but also promotes overall well-being during this critical time!

Did you know that marshmallows grow on trees? April fools!!!
Mrs. Ambrose's third grade class learned all about the "growth" of marshmallows and even got to eat some!
