With Thanksgiving approaching, our third and fourth graders explored the history of the legendary Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with the book "Balloons Over Broadway." They celebrated by wrapping up the week with a spectacular parade of their own! 🎈🦃✨Very festive and full of creativity!!

Our third graders are powering up their math skills by mastering multiplication facts and unlocking the secrets to division! ✨Miss Windham's class, in particular, has been diving into a variety of hands-on activities. They are becoming expert strategists, modeling concepts from arrays to equal groups to build a rock-solid foundation in both multiplication and division! ➗✖️

This week, third grade has participated in a program called Adopt a Cow! Laura Vandaveer from the OSU Ag Extension Office taught our students about various dairy cows and we got to hear about our "adopted" calf. Everyone, meet Atlee!

This week in PE, we’re celebrating the power of gratitude, kindness, and teamwork through our Gratitude Games! 💛🙌
These activities invite students to move, play, and connect while reflecting on what they’re thankful for and how they can show kindness to others. Through cooperative challenges, team relays, and meaningful reflection moments, our students are learning that movement isn’t just about building strong bodies — it’s also about nurturing strong hearts!
We’re building a culture of appreciation, empathy, and joy… one game at a time! 🌟💫

Mrs. Gee's 5th graders recently combined creativity and writing skills by disguising their turkeys and crafting persuasive reasons why their turkey should be spared this Thanksgiving! 🦃✏️

🎉 5th Grade Spotlight: Blood on the River Projects! ⚓️🏰
Our 5th graders have truly brought history to life! After diving deep into Blood on the River: Jamestown 1607 by Elisa Carbone, students were challenged to choose between a big test or an at-home project — and wow, did they deliver! 💪📚
From carefully crafted Jamestown forts and Powhatan homes to detailed village scenes and chapter dioramas, these projects show an incredible mix of creativity, effort, and historical accuracy. The Intermediate has transformed into a mini museum of early America, filled with clay huts, wooden forts, and student pride.
We’re so proud of our young historians for turning what they’ve learned about Jamestown and the Powhatan people into such imaginative, hands-on projects. Their excitement for history is contagious!
👏 A huge thank-you to all the parents who supported their child’s creativity and learning at home. Together, we’ve made history come alive in 5th grade! ❤️📖

🐷🌾 Mrs. Jones' 5th grade science class had an unforgettable trip to the ag barn today! The students observed pigs, sheep, and even met Gus the cat! 😺 They sketched and took notes in their journals, diving into what these animals eat, how they use energy, and how energy and matter move through the ecosystem. For some students, it was their first time seeing animals like pigs and sheep up close, making the experience even more special! Their enthusiasm for learning was truly inspiring! 🐑✨ #5thGradeScience #AgBarnAdventures #EcosystemExploration

Our 5th graders have been working so hard and they are going to do awesome!
Don’t miss it at either 1pm or 6pm, tomorrow!

Congratulations to our Love of Learning Family Night Backpack Winners! Legend Adkins, Braxton McClung, and Tyler Webb each won a backpack filled with awesome goodies — a mystery book, mini flashlight, cool socks, snacks, and more! A special thank you to Savvy Parke and Purcell Boy Scouts Pack #3238 for their generous donations to make these backpacks extra special!

Last week Mrs. Piazzas 4th graders mixed up a little "witches potion" in pure Halloween fashion.... Costumes and all!

For the Love of Learning night was so great! We loved seeing all of our families come out tonight and enjoy the literacy, math, and stem activities that our staff worked so hard to put together. The food trucks were a hit as well! Thank you all for supporting learning and fun!

TOMORROW is FREE hat day!!!! Students are encouraged to wear their red, white and blue in honor of Veteran's Day that's just around the corner! ❤️ 🤍 💙

OU's voice of the Sooners Toby Rowland, paid a visit to our school today. The students (and staff) were thrilled with the readings of both his books, Unhitch the Wagon and Put the Ponies in the Barn. Toby Rowland shared his stories, took time to engage with students' questions, and even did some announcing! It was a great day at Purcell Intermediate!

🎯 Bullseye!
Today was our first day to shoot in PE! Students put their hard work into practice as we reviewed the 11 Steps to Archery Success and took their first shots on the range. They did an amazing job showing focus, safety, and skill—We are so proud of them! 🏹👏

Our third grade hall wrapped up Wellness Week saying "Boo" to drugs!👻 Look how creative and imaginative they were!!

Yesterday, these amazing third graders became known as the "beautification crew!" They wanted to spend their recess time cleaning and beautifying our playground area! Amazing work girls!! ✨🛝

👻🎯 Today in PE, we put our throwing and tossing skills to the test with a spooky game of Ghost Knockdown!
Teams worked together to take down the other team’s ghosts using foam balls while taking on one of three important roles — throwers, guards, and collectors!
We even turned down the lights to make it extra spooky! 💡🕸️
It was the perfect mix of teamwork, strategy, and Halloween fun! 🎃💪

🎃 Today we said BOO to Drugs! 👻
Students and staff showed off their creativity by wearing costumes to school—it was a spooktacular day!
Our 3rd grade teachers brought idioms to life,
4th grade teachers stepped straight out of Shrek’s swamp,
and our 5th grade team had everyone cracking up with their 6-7 tops!
Even our cafeteria crew joined in the fun, dressing as chips and salsa and serving up delicious taco soup for lunch! 🌮🫕
There were so many fun and imaginative costumes across the school—it was the perfect way to wrap up Wellness Week with laughter, spirit, and a reminder to make healthy choices! 💪🎃

Reminder.... Money and order forms for the Toby Rowland books are due TOMORROW!
