Week 1 of summer school was a success!! These students never fail to amaze us with their level of determination and collaboration skills! Thank you Purcell Public Library for spending time with our students this summer and challenging their creativity!

Summer School starts tomorrow! 9am-12pm. All participating students need to be DROPPED OFF AND PICKED UP AT THE ELEMENTARY between 8:45-9am for breakfast!Our teachers will be there to greet them in the morning and at pickup time.

📚 Attending the PLC (Professional Learning Communities) Conference in Tulsa has been an incredible experience! We're learning powerful strategies and gaining fresh insight into what it truly takes to improve all children’s learning. From building strong collaborative teams to focusing on results, this conference is reinforcing the importance of working together to ensure every student succeeds. The next one starts tomorrow! OKC Comets Reading Challenge, presented by Energy Transfer, recently kicked off its second year and encourages students in kindergarten through 12th grade throughout Oklahoma to log at least 20 minutes of reading per day to receive Oklahoma City Baseball Club tickets, pregame field access and chances to win additional prizes. Purcell Intermediate would like to send a BIG THANK YOU to Derick Berkley for power washing the entire back pad so that we could paint today!!! We are so thankful for the support our community gives to our teachers and students!

Thank you to everyone who came out to paint the pad today! We still have some touching up to do, but it looks fantastic! We have to give a big shoutout to TSET and HSOK for providing the supplies we needed to brighten up our playground such as paint, stencils, brushes, and rollers! #fitandfunplayscapes

TODAY IS THE DAY!!! 2PM on the back pad! Thanks to our partnership with TSET and Healthy Schools Oklahoma (HSOK), we have the exciting opportunity to paint our back pad for free! This project will transform the space into a dynamic and engaging area where students can enjoy new ways to move, play, and learn. We need volunteers to help make it happen! Happy last week of school! The 4th graders began their POTATO OLYMPICS competition today! Day 1 was a blast. We have..... Our students have been busy growing their own food—both in our outdoor garden and the tower garden in the gym! By planting, tending, and eventually harvesting their own fruits and vegetables, students are gaining hands-on experience with where their food comes from. This process not only teaches responsibility and patience, but also empowers them to make healthier choices and take ownership of their health. It’s amazing to see their excitement as they watch their hard work grow—literally!

Today during rotation time, our students participated in a fun and flavorful fruit and vegetable tasting! They sampled 10 different fruits and veggies and made observations about each one. We talked about the goal of eating 5 fruits and vegetables a day and how a colorful plate means more nutrients for our bodies. Students learned about the many benefits of fruits and veggies—like how fiber helps with digestion, carrots support vision, and antioxidants in fruits boost the immune system and promote healthy skin. It was great to see their excitement as they tried new foods and had conversations about making healthier choices. Next time they’re reaching for a snack, I hope they remember today and go for the fruits and veggies instead of chips or cookies! Thank you to Healthy Schools Oklahoma and TSET for purchasing all the fruit and veggies for us!!!

We were so excited to host a visit and tour for our second graders this week! They had the chance to explore where their 3rd-grade classrooms will be, learn a bit about their daily schedule, and hear all about the exciting activities they’ll get to enjoy in rotations. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet our future students and help make their transition to third grade feel a little smoother. A special thank-you to some of our Student Council Members who served as ambassadors during the visit — they did a fantastic job greeting our guests, leading the Q & A time, and making them feel right at home! #FutureIntermediateDragons #ReadyFor3rdGrade #DragonIgnite
