🏸 This week in PE, we’re learning the basics of badminton!
Students have been working on the forehand serve, forehand strike, and backhand strike. 💪
We put our serving skills to the test with a fun game of Birdie in the Cage, where students aimed for a hula hoop target 🎯, and practiced rallying with Keepy Uppy to see how many hits they could keep going! 🔁
The progress has been awesome—we might have some future tennis (or badminton!) stars at the intermediate! ⭐️

⛳️🏌️♂️ Our Golf Unit is in Full Swing! 🏌️♀️⛳️
We are cruising right along with our golf unit in PE, and our students are doing an amazing job! So far, they’ve learned how to putt, chip, and pitch—and they’re having a blast practicing their skills.
A huge THANK YOU to Healthy Schools Oklahoma and TSET for providing our school with the SNAG Golf system. This equipment makes teaching golf fun, engaging, and easy for students of all skill levels!
It’s been awesome watching our students grow in focus, coordination, and confidence while learning a lifelong sport. We’ve got some future golfers in the making! ⛳️👏🐉#DragonStrong #PEFun #SNAGGolf

Mrs. Jones’ 5th Grade Science 🌎✨
Our scientists have been exploring Earth’s Place in the Universe through hands-on learning! Students have been observing and drawing shadows with chalk, building and testing simple circuits, and modeling Earth’s movements to understand rotation, day and night, and seasons.
Curiosity, creativity, and discovery are at the heart of our classroom!

Thank you, PTO, for the bagels this morning and for always knowing the perfect time to brighten our day. Whether it’s a pick-me-up, a snack, or just something to start the morning right, we truly appreciate the way you take care of us, here at the intermediate! You guys are truly the best. Thank you, thank you.

🎉 Today was our annual Road Week Carnival and it was an absolute blast! 🎉
The Purcell High School Student Council spent the day at our building playing games, hanging out with students, and bringing amazing energy to our school! Some band members even played music in the cafeteria during lunch 🎶 which made the day even more fun.
Students got to play Nitro Ball, 9 Square in the Air, basketball, gaga ball, and many other games 🏀🎯 It was a day full of laughter, movement, and smiles all around!
Some students got to pie their teachers in the face, and it was hilarious! Thank you to the teachers that volunteered!
A huge THANK YOU to Amy Menhusen the high school students for taking time out of your day to spend it with us. Our kids had an absolute blast and loved every minute of it! ❤️🐉

Tomorrow is $1 hat day! Bring a dollar and wear your favorite hat.

In PE, we have officially kicked off our March Madness Step Challenge! 🏃♂️🏃♀️
Students are using pedometers to track their steps during the first five minutes of class each day. We’re focusing on effort, movement, and starting class with energy and purpose!
At the end of the month, the class in each grade level with the highest average number of steps will win an exciting reward — a field trip to the Heart of Oklahoma Baseball Tournament hosted by our very own Purcell Dragons! ⚾🐉
We can’t wait to see which classes bring the intensity, teamwork, and hustle all month long. Let the madness begin! 💪🔥

We would like to give a BIG shoutout to Savannah and Veronica from Missoula Children’s Theatre for spending the morning with our fifth graders!
They led engaging theater games that helped students practice important performance skills in a fun and interactive way. Our students worked on role play, used their imaginations, strengthened their focus and memorization skills — all while playing games and having a blast!
It was wonderful to see them collaborating, socializing, and stepping outside of their comfort zones. Thank you for bringing creativity, energy, and confidence-building experiences to our students! 🎭✨

These 3rd graders have read 250,000 + words!

It’s National Nutrition Month!! Smart serving means being mindful of portion sizes and nutritional value! 🍽️ By offering appropriate amounts, we can prevent overeating and encourage healthier habits. Include a variety of fruits, veggies, and whole grains for better flavor and nutrition. Let’s practice smart serving for healthier choices and improved well-being! #HealthyEating

We have egg-citing news!! Third grade is hatching chicks! 🐣 Mrs. Laura and Miss Emily taught our students about the parts of an egg, egg incubation, and how to candle an egg. They are all very excited to meet their new feathery friends soon! 🐥🥚

On Friday, our third graders got to experience Bob Moore Subaru's program by touring Expedition Africa at the OKC Zoo! 🐾🌍They spent time researching various African animals before the field trip and were able to use that newfound knowledge while engaging in different activities, such as tracking animal behaviors. Some even got to feed ducks and enjoy their petting zoo! 🐐🦒🦓🐆🦡
Thank you OKC Zoo for hosting us, and thank you Bob Moore Subaru for giving our students an enriched and engaging learning opportunity!

We are super proud of our third graders that have read 100,000 words this year! Way to read!

This week in PE, we’re continuing the fun with our Nine Square in the Air activity pack! We’ve been playing games like Flyer Frenzy and Tic-Tac-Toe Beanbag Toss, and the kids are absolutely loving it! They are moving, laughing, encouraging one another, and having a blast while staying active.
We’ve been focusing on building our target skills by tossing and throwing frisbees and beanbags at specific targets. It’s been great to see their coordination, accuracy, and confidence improve each day!
We also tied in an important health lesson on tobacco awareness. Using our Inside-Outside Circle strategy, students discussed the harmful effects of smoking and vaping and talked about ways to make healthy choices. I love seeing them not only grow physically, but also build knowledge and decision-making skills that will help them for years to come.
So proud of how engaged and thoughtful these students are — learning, moving, and having FUN all at the same time! 💪🔥

Class pictures and spring individual photos are happening on Tuesday, February 24th— don’t forget those smiles! 📸✨

Mrs. Gee’s 5th graders got up and moving while practicing simple, compound, and complex sentences! ✏️ They quizzed each other, talked through their answers, and learned from one another. 👏🏻

This week in PE, we are learning how to play 9 Square in the Air and the kids are loving it!
9 Square combines volleyball and 4-square into the ultimate community game that gets everyone involved, no matter their skill level. It keeps students moving, communicating, and encouraging one another while building hand-eye coordination and teamwork skills.
We also tied in some math practice! For example: students multiplied their square number by 2 and called out the answer as they struck the ball. It was so fun to see them thinking, moving, and learning all at the same time!
The energy was high, the smiles were big, and every student was engaged. I love seeing learning come to life through movement! 🏐

Malia Turner played a game of "feeling charades" with Ms. Cochran's third grade class! Can you guess what emotions they're showing? 😠😢🥱🙂🙄🥳
