In PE, we had a blast playing a game called Super Chicken—and the students LOVED it! 🐣➡️🐔➡️🦸➡️✨
It’s the perfect warm-up that gets kids moving, interacting, and leveling up through Rock, Paper, Scissors. Players start as an egg, transform into a chicken, then a superhero, and finally reach immortal status! The first ones to make it all the way got to hop on the bench and show off their best superhero pose! 💪
We also played some awesome back-to-school games from OPEN like Cone Catcher and Hoop It Up to build teamwork and practice having a growth mindset. These kids are rocking it already this year, and we couldn’t be prouder! 🙌🔥

In PE, we have mastered our Gaga Ball Expectations and are now ready to enjoy it at recess! 🎉 Along with learning this exciting game, we’ve been building teamwork skills through fun and challenging activities.
Students participated in the Ice Cream Cone Relay Race, where we focused on “fast failures”—making mistakes, learning from them, and quickly adjusting strategies. We also played Breaking Chains, tossing beanbags into hula hoops while using encouraging words, communicating, and strategizing together as a team.
Not only are we working on teamwork, communication, and cooperation, but we are also making sure to play all of our games safely and responsibly. Proud of the progress our Dragons are making every day! 🐉💪

Can you believe that we have already started school? Two days have passed and third grade has already engaged in so many exciting activities!
Our third grade students have been given a proper tour of the building and the playground, as well as visiting with Mrs. Swayze about procedures and what to look forward to at the intermediate. Each class has also participated in many activities that build a class family and team etiquette! In Ms. Greenlee's class, her students read "First Day Jitters" while drinking jitter juice and discussing the various ways they felt about starting this new school year. Mrs. Davis' class was given a series of challenges involving balloons not touching the ground and collaborating as a team in order to complete them. So much fun!!!

Purcell Intermediate and Purcell Elementary proudly represented our district at the Healthy Schools Oklahoma Summer Health Institute!
PE teachers Stephanie Knowles and Katrina Wilkins dove into sessions on tower gardens, large group games, classroom cooking, and innovative strategies for teaching health education. They also had the chance to connect with other passionate educators from across the state!
Mrs. Knowles was recognized for her incredible implementation of programs made possible by the TSET grant, and Mrs. Wilkins was honored for her efforts in tobacco prevention.
A huge congratulations to 5th-grade teacher Aimee Arnold, who was named Classroom Teacher of the Year for her outstanding work with Ag in the Classroom and The Walking Classroom!
We’re proud of our team for continuing to lead the way in creating healthy, engaging learning environments for our students! ❤️🍎 #HealthySchoolsOK #DragonProud #TSET #WellnessWarriors #PurcellDragons

🎓✨ This week was nothing short of amazing! Jennifer Davis (4th grade teacher) and Stephanie Knowles (PE teacher) spent the week in Edmond diving into the Great Expectations Methodology—a powerful, research-based program designed to transform classroom culture and empower both teachers and students. GE is built on six key tenets: ✔️ High Expectations ✔️ Teacher Attitude and Responsibility ✔️ All Children Can Learn ✔️ Building Self-Esteem ✔️ Climate of Mutual Respect ✔️ Teacher Knowledge and Skill They also learned the 8 Expectations for Living and 17 classroom practices that will serve as a strong foundation as they bring GE back to their classrooms. We’re so excited to see the positive impact this training will have on our school community! 🌟 #GreatExpectations #EmpoweredEducators #LifelongLearning #AllChildrenCanLearn #PositiveClassrooms
