Nothing brings in the October vibes like bat caves! 🦇 After reading "Bats Did It First!", Miss Windham's class learned about echolocation, bat behaviors, and their habitats. To wrap up the week, students paired up, scavenged for supplies, and created their own amazing bat caves! Very collaborative and creative work! 🍂
Students in Mrs. Ambrose’s third grade class have been practicing their multiplication strategies by playing an Everyday Math game! ✨✖️ Through the game, they worked on representing equal groups and arrays to build a stronger understanding of how multiplication works. It was a fun and hands-on way to reinforce their math skills! 🎲

🎃 This week in PE, we’ve been getting into the fall spirit with Pumpkin Patch Games from OPEN Phys Ed! 🏃♂️🧡
We started with Zombie Tag to get our hearts pumping and bodies warmed up 🧟♀️🔥, then worked on team-building and underhand tossing skills with fun activities like Pumpkin Movers and The Pumpkin Patch! 🍂🎯
Our students are having a gourd time staying active this fall! 🍁😄
Before Fall Break, our 4th graders were up, moving and LEARNING!
Friction, figurative language, cause/effect, force and motion.... Fun, fun, fun.

🏹 Today in PE, we made String Bows to get a feel for proper archery form before shooting real arrows! 🎯 Students practiced how to stand, draw, and follow through—focusing on technique and muscle memory (no targets needed yet!). The String Bow helps us learn the feel before the real deal! 💪🔥

Tomorrow (Friday, October 10) is a Virtual learning Day! Teachers will be in session planning lessons and receiving PD. Students need to complete their assignments for attendance purposes.

🔥🚒 Fire Safety Day! 🚒🔥
Fire Marshall Quinn Kroth and his amazing crew spent the day teaching our students all about fire safety! 👩🚒👨🚒
Students learned so many important lessons, including:
🏠 How to create an escape plan and family meeting place
🔥 The Fire Triangle – fuel, heat, and oxygen
💨 How radiation, convection, and conduction spread heat
🕯️ Did you know a candle flame is shaped like a ball in outer space? So cool!
🥘 What to do in a grease fire – turn off the stove, cover the pan, and use baking soda or salt (never water!)
📺 If there’s a microwave fire, turn it off and keep the door shut
🚪 Always have two ways to escape from every room
⚡ And we even talked about spontaneous combustion and checking smoke detectors regularly!

🔥🏹 What a busy (and fun!) week it’s been in PE! We kicked off our archery unit 🎯 — students learned how to determine eye dominance, understand the range set-up, and follow whistle commands.
We also sprinkled in some favorite games like Hoop Shuffle Tag, Three Ball, and Hunter Hawks to keep everyone moving and practicing their verbal and nonverbal communication skills! 💬🤝
And we’re not slowing down — tomorrow we get to learn about Fire Safety with our awesome Purcell Fire Department! 🚒🔥 Can’t wait!

🏐 We wrapped up our volleyball unit with an exciting Newcomb Tournament! 🎉 Students showed off their volleyball skills and their throwing and catching talents in this fun game! 💪
Teammates voted for players who stood out for their leadership, sportsmanship, heart, and hustle on the court! ❤️👏

A lot of math exploration is happening in our third grade hall!! ✖️➗➕➖ In Mrs. Davis' class, they played a fun game of "Roll & Round" with a partner! After rolling a die, they put their rounding skills to the test by solving a problem within the column they rolled on. 🎲 Miss Windham's students tested their knowledge of regrouping in addition equations with a fun game of "Roll & Regroup." Each student was partnered up, given three dice, and tasked with one goal: create a greater sum than their partner. They used their knowledge of place value, regrouping, and problem solving to win the challenge! ✨
