Yesterday was a big day for the Lady Dragons softball team! They secured their first win and their first district win with a 3-1 victory over the Harrah Lady Panthers. A huge congratulations to the players on this awesome achievement.
We also want to give a special shout-out to Coach Tutwiler and Coach Tompkins, who earned their first wins as coaches of the Lady Dragons. Congratulations!
The team doesn't get much of a break, as they're right back in action today at the Tuttle Festival. They'll face Mustang at 3 pm and Tahlequah at 6 pm. Good luck, girls!

As we begin the 2025-26 school year filled with promise and possibility, it’s important to recognize the heart of what makes Purcell Schools such a powerful place for learning: our teachers.
During our back-to-school in-service, many of our educators stepped up to share their expertise, insights, and—most importantly—their passion. By leading professional development for their colleagues, they modeled what it means to be lifelong learners and true collaborators. Their leadership strengthens our schools, builds our collective capacity, and sets the tone for a year rooted in teamwork and purpose.
To those who led, thank you. Your willingness to share, guide, and grow alongside your peers sets an example for us all.

Thanks to our wonderful community for supporting education! This support is what fuels the opportunity for success. All of the teachers pictured below were awarded with a grant or money from the Foundation.

Our team is getting ready to welcome students back for a great 2025-26 school year! It all starts with our staff convocation, a message from Dr. McAdoo, and learning new practices. Yesterday, we had that opportunity. We are looking forward to growth, innovation and a successful new year. #innovate #growth #dragonsuccess

Thank you to First United Bank and Purcell's Education Foundation for providing staff with these notebooks to start the year! #dragonproud

We're thrilled to provide another exciting update on our bond projects, showcasing significant advancements across multiple areas designed to enhance our students' learning environment and opportunities!
Junior High FEMA Gym and Geothermal System
Construction on the FEMA multi-purpose facility at Purcell Junior High continues to be on track. A major step was completed the week of August 11th, with the foundation being poured. This keeps us moving forward with this vital addition, which will provide a safe and versatile space for our students and community.
In addition, work on the geothermal wells is progressing. Digging for these wells is currently underway and should wrap up in the next few weeks. As a reminder, the geothermal system is being carried over from the existing Junior High building, reflecting our commitment to energy efficiency and responsible resource management.
Ag Barn and Junior High North Parking Lot Bid
We're excited to announce that the new Ag Barn and the new parking lot north of the Junior High will officially go out for public bid on August 13th. This is a significant step forward, and we anticipate that construction on these projects will be scheduled to begin in the next few weeks. The new Ag Barn will provide expanded learning opportunities for our agricultural programs, and the new parking lot will greatly improve traffic flow and accessibility at the Junior High campus.
Intermediate and Elementary Safe Rooms & Elementary Gym Remodel
Finally, we're pleased to share that the Intermediate and Elementary safe rooms, along with the Elementary gym remodel, are currently in their final design phase. We're diligently working to finalize these plans to ensure these critical projects provide enhanced safety and improved facilities for our youngest learners.
We'll continue to provide updates as these important projects progress. Thank you for your ongoing support of Purcell Public Schools!
