🩺💚 Learning how to take care of ourselves is an important part of growing up!
On Friday, our elementary students had the opportunity to participate in our annual Health Fair, hosted by the wonderful OCCC Nursing Program! Our students rotated through a variety of hands-on lessons and conversations focused on everyday choices that help keep them healthy, safe, and feeling their best.
Throughout the fair, students learned about:
🦠 Germs and the importance of washing their hands and covering coughs and sneezes
🏠 Safety around the house, including how to safely carry scissors and what to do if a stranger comes to the door
🥦 Fruits and vegetables, including identifying different foods and learning why they are important
🦷 Dental hygiene and the importance of brushing and taking care of their teeth
🏃♀️ The importance of physical education and staying active
💙 Bullying prevention and how to treat others with kindness and respect
🧼 Personal cleanliness and the importance of staying clean
😴 The importance of sleep and getting a good night’s rest
Our students had a great time learning, asking questions, and building knowledge they can use both at school and at home. We are so grateful to the OCCC Nursing Program for continuing to partner with us and provide our students with these valuable learning experiences!

Last week, our elementary students learned some important street safety skills! They learned what different road signs mean, where to cross the street, and how to cross safely. 🚶♀️🚶♂️🛑
These are important skills for our youngest Dragons to learn and practice as they become more aware of their surroundings and the world around them.
And remember, learning doesn’t stop when PE class ends! Parents can help reinforce these skills by talking about road signs, pointing them out while traveling, and reminding children how and where to cross safely. Repeated practice and reminders help keep these important safety skills fresh! ❤️🤍🐉
