Our 2nd graders got to take a tour of the Intermediate school yesterday. They got to see where their 3rd grade classes would be, got to learn a little about how their day would go and a little about the different things they’d be doing next year, and hear all about the fun things they’d get to do in their specials rotations. A huge thank you to Mrs. Swayze, Mrs. Cook, and the intermediate staff for making this happen for our students. Getting a glimpse of what next year will look like and getting to become familiar with a few faces helps to ease our students worries and make the transition a little easier for them next year. Also a huge shout out to the Intermediate Student Council students for being so welcoming to our students and being the best greeters and tour guides. 🐉

May Faculty Spotlight! Please join us in celebrating three incredible ladies who are a true blessing to our students, staff, and families here at PES! Their hearts for teaching and service shine every day, and we are so thankful for them! 🐲❤️🍏 Mrs. Paige Brown has been teaching for 13 years—1 year in kindergarten, 11 years in first grade, and is now serving as a Reading Interventionist. When asked about her favorite school memory, she said, “I remember loving school as a kid! What’s not to love? My friends, nice teachers, the playground, and learning new things—it was the best!” She says she can’t live without her husband, her two beautiful daughters, and of course, a little iced coffee. Paige shares, “My joy comes from my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He’s my hope and future, and I find freedom in Him.” Mrs. Kim Thompson has devoted 25 years to education, teaching kindergarten, first grade, and Reading Intervention. A favorite childhood memory of hers is attending stock shows. She says she can’t live without her fizz sticks from Arbonne, and her greatest joy comes from spending time with her family. Mrs. Amy Nemecek has dedicated 24 years to teaching—most of them also right here at Purcell! While she’s taught many grades, her heart has been in second grade, she's also taught PE and most recently as a Reading Interventionist. As a student, she loved playing basketball. She said she can't live without her family! She loves them very much, especially this new sweet grandson! And what brings her joy? Warm weather and days at the lake! These amazing ladies also lead our Mentoring Mondays at the elementary and are always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Thank you, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Thompson, and Mrs. Nemecek, for your dedication, love, and JOY! We appreciate all that you do!🍎🐲❤️

Summer safety is vital for ensuring that everyone can enjoy the season's activities without unnecessary risks. With increased outdoor time, it's important to be mindful of sun protection, hydration, and safe practices around water and recreational activities. Using sunscreen, staying hydrated, and being aware of heat-related illnesses can help prevent health issues. Additionally, teaching children about safety rules while biking, swimming, or playing outside fosters a culture of awareness and responsibility. By prioritizing summer safety, we can create lasting memories while protecting our well-being.

Water safety is crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring enjoyable experiences around pools, lakes, and oceans. Understanding the fundamentals of water safety—such as knowing how to swim, using life jackets, and being aware of potential hazards—can significantly reduce the risk of drowning and injuries. Teaching children about safe behaviors in and around water, as well as supervising them closely, is essential. By promoting water safety awareness, we can help everyone enjoy aquatic activities while prioritizing their well-being.

April PES Staff Spotlight! Please join us in honoring these wonderful ladies; Ms. Celia Brown and Mrs. Brenna Collins! They are such a blessing to many students, staff, and families! Ms. Brown has taught a total of 28 years with almost all of them in PreK at PES! She loves teaching littles! Her favorite memory as a student was science! She loved her incredible teacher, Gwendolyn Place. She said she made everything fun and interesting and that they did a lot of science experiments and she will always remember how cool they were! One thing she can't live without is her family, friends and especially her brother. She also enjoys traveling! Mrs. Collins has been serving students for the past 5 years at PES. She loves watching students grow and seeing their improvement throughout the year! Oddly enough, her favorite memory as a student was in PreK in Ms. Celia Brown's class when they had Water Day! She loves her family and spending time with them, especially her sweet son Hunter! We are blessed to have them both at PES and appreciate all they do to make students shine!🩵🫶🏽🥰🐲
