Our Pre-K had a special visitor this morning! We got to meet the famous Bree from Purcell Animal Shelter. If you don't follow their page, I encourage you to go find Bree's story. She has come such a long way under some great care. We were her first social experience since being at the shelter. Our students were so respectful and did a fantastic job being quiet and calm while she was in our rooms. This was a wonderful way to wrap up our unit on pets and end our drive for the shelter. Thank you to all who donated items. The shelter was so appreciative to have a truck load to take back. #DragonCares 🐉❤️🐉

February PES Staff Spotlight! Please join us in honoring these special ladies; Mrs. Marion, Mrs. Johnston, and Mrs. Smith! These three are a blessing to many students, staff, and families! Mrs. Marion has been serving students in education for the past 11 years. She loves teaching students! Her favorite memory as a student was when she was in upper elementary school, she loved being book buddies with the Kindergarteners and going to their class to read to them. One thing she can't live without is caffeine. She enjoys spending time with her family and being present, slowing down, and enjoying what's happening in the here and now. Mrs. Johnston has been serving students for the past 4 years. She loves helping students be successful each day! Her favorite memory as a student was going to P.E. She can't live without her family and loves spending time with them! Mrs. Smith has been serving students for the past 15 years. She loves helping students learn sounds and helping them with speech! Her favorite memory as a student was when they had "Read-ins at school. She loves her family and enjoys spending time with them! We are blessed to have them all at PES and appreciate all they do to make students shine!

Missoula Children’s Theatre is coming back to Purcell the week of March 24th-29th. This is the week right after Spring Break! The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency in Purcell is presented locally through Purcell Schools. Auditions will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of “Alice in Wonderland” on Monday, March 24th at 3:30 p.m. and end by 5:30 p.m. Those auditioning should arrive at 3:30 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the auditions. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant directors (high school age students) will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. Not all students who audition are guaranteed to be cast. Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, and props. The MCT tour actors/directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week each day. Students enrolled in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to audition. Students from surrounding schools may audition for a fee of $25 which is refundable if the student is not cast. For more information call Cindy Stone at Purcell Elementary School at 405-442-0099. Practice & Performance Schedules as follows: Monday 3:30-5:30 auditions and if students are cast they could have Monday practice from 5:45-7:45 at the same location. Tuesday through Thursday practice times are 3:30-5:30 and 5:45-7:45 (15 min break). Friday Dress Rehearsal 8:30am -12:00pm with a Friday performance from 1:00-2:00pm, and Saturday performance from 3:00-4:00pm, but cast members would need to arrive early. Parents are welcome to attend practices and rehearsals, but on performance days, will be asked to step out of the building during preparation for the show and will be allowed to re-enter when the doors for the show open, 30 minutes before show time. Parents are responsible for getting students to and from practices. Permission slips to audition will be sent home in Thursday folders before the week of Missoula. Permission slips to audition will need to be taken to auditions with the student, not turned into their school. Extra permission slips will be on hand at auditions if needed. Please reach out with any questions.

Valentine’s
We are wrapping up Kindness Week today with our Valentine parties! Our Little Dragons have done a great job at spreading kindness this week. Today's kindness challenge is about spreading kindness to our families and our homes by helping out around the house and cleaning something without being asked. Just because Kindness Week is ending doesn't mean our kind acts should. Please continue to encourage our students to show kindness always. Today's kindness drawing winners were Adalynn Frizell, K.K., Coleman Sheehy, Crue Tompkins, Bison Ellis, Cash Compton, Cal Culwell, Capri Ingram, Aurora Velazquez, Kobi Woody, Jahdiel Munoz, Esperanza Don, Ashley Luna, Brooks Carr, and Walker Watson. These students helped their classmates, helped their teachers, and gave out compliments to others to spread kindness around! We are so proud of you for being kind. #DragonCARES

Our Valentine's theme is centered on kindness and giving of our hearts to others. Students have been doing different activities to celebrate Kindness Week and Showing Acts of Kindness to Others, February 10th-14th. We will be ending our Kindness Week with 50's dress up and celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday, February 14th. 50's Day dress-up doesn't have to be an expensive outfit. This can be a very simple dress such as rolled-up student pant legs and shirt cuffs. A ribbon in their hair for girls or slick it back for boys with jeans and a white t-shirt is perfect! We are all looking forward to it! Feel free to join the fun and dress in your 50s attire with us! We look forward to parents or guardians coming to celebrate with their child and their classmates on Friday, February 14th. 🥰🐲

Our Little Dragons are still busy spreading kindness this week! While we are focusing on and putting a big emphasis on kindness this week, we are also teaching students the importance of always being kind and the impact it can have on others. Kindness starts with you! Since we were out yesterday, we have two kindness challenges today! The first challenge from yesterday is Love the Earth: pick up trash and be responsible with your trash to help your school and community stay beautiful! Our second kindness challenge for today is about being thankful and showing gratitude by thanking someone like a teacher, friend or classmate with kind words, a note or drawing to let them know you appreciate them. We encourage you all to join us in our kindness challenges! Our kindness drawing winners for today were Josie Wren, Gwendolyn Wyatt, Blakely Bell, Stoney Duke, Kobi Woody, Zane Shahan, Newt Folsom, Hadley Groff, and Markee Jacks. Also pictured from Tuesday's drawing is Tillie Reynolds. We are so proud of you for being kind! #DragonCARES
